BeoGram 400X

The BeoGram 4000, 4002 and 4004 share the same tangential tonearm and sledge design. Fifty years on, the same parts tend to wear out, and almost all of them can be repaired or replaced.

Common issues

  • 01Sticking or failing relays
  • 02Burnt-out bulbs in the tracking sensor and RPM adjustment
  • 03Worn servo and sledge motors
  • 04Aged reservoir capacitors
  • 05Broken pickup mounts and worn keypads

Repairs and parts

What I do when I restore a BeoGram 400X. Where I designed a part for the job, its photos, files and guide are on the same page.

SpinDex is the RPM logger I use to check that a restored BeoGram 400X holds its speed. It's open source.
